On paper, not having Sasha Vezenkov and Tyler Dorsey is a problem for Olympiacos. That was not the case against Baskonia.
The Greeks got the 92-69 win by dominating the game and proving that they have a really, really deep roster.
Evan Fournier scored 15 points and dished nine assists, Nikola Milutinov added 14 points, while Alec Peters and Nigel Williams-Goss added 12 points each.
“Overall it was a good game, a serious game by us so let’s keep winning”, said Fournier.
Shaq McKissic also scored 10 and Olympiacos finished the night shooting 73,5% in two-pointers.
Markus Howard and Trent Forrest scored 12 points each for the losing side, which dropped to 4-7, while Olympiacos with an 8-3 record remained tied for the second spot of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague standings.
And Red and White show
Olympiacos and Fournier set the tone early on with a 10-4 run, but Baskonia reacted and got a 17-13 lead. It was shortlived with Fournier scoring 12 points in the first period which ended with Olympiacos up by six (30-24).
That was just the start of it, with Olympiacos starting the second quarter with a 13-3 run (43-27) and closing the first half with a three by Giannoulis Larentzakis to make the score 56-38.
Baskonia with Nikos Rogkavopoulos scoring trimmed the lead to 13 (62-49), but there was no coming back. Olympiacos closed the period up by 20 (73-53) with Milutinov and Peters doing damage.
Baskonia tried to react and couldn’t do much after that.
