Once more ALBA wasn’t competitive in a home game, with Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv getting the easy 103-85 win which secured that for one more week, the Germans will be on the bottom of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague standings with a 2-10 record.
Maccabi at 4-8 is also in pretty bad shape, parting ways with Saben Lee and still missing Tamir Blatt due to injury.
On the other hand, ALBA is still missing half the team, and the addition of David McCormack who had seven points in his debut after leaving Milan, was not a real boost.
On the other side, Rokas Jokubaitis with 24 points in 26 minutes, and Jaylen Hoard with 18 got the job done for the winners in a game that doesn’t include anything really memorable.
“Finally, we were waiting for this win a lot of time”, admitted Jokubaitis as Maccabi was coming off four straight defeats, “as I said before the game I hope we can build on this one”.
Matteo Spagnolo had 16 points for the home side.
A stroll for Maccabi
After the first period, the score was 32-16 for Maccabi and nothing changed after that.
The hosts opened the night with an 18-2 partial score and while the second period was balanced and the halftime score (52-36), it was more about Maccabi relaxing than ALBA turning the tide.
At the end of the third period, the Israelis were up by 21 (77-56), they relaxed again and ALBA made it a 14-point game (90-76) but it was too little and too late.
