After an amazing double-overtime game in Palau Blaugrana, Real Madrid escaped with its first road victory of this EuroLeague Regular Season following five straight-away defeats. Keeping his team alive against Barcelona, Facundo Campazzo forced the first overtime with a huge dagger.
“I just tried to call Mario [Hezonja], bring him to the pick-and-roll, and make the slip. They gave me a little bit of space on the three-point line, I just released the shot. Thank God, it went in”, he commented in the post-game flash interview. During his answer, a small swearing came out. “They “f—-d up”, they missed. Don’t fine me, please”, he ironically asked the camera in a funny moment.
The classy Argentinian point guard, who finished with a double-double of 18 points and 10 assists, spoke about the overall clash. “It’s very fun, playing at El Clasico here or in Madrid, we enjoy it a lot. It’s an extra motivation for us, we had a big game for how the season. Here we played a solid game against Barcelona, in the first half we were a little bit lost. In the second, we did a great job”, he explained.
“Playing this kind of game gives us a different motivation and puts us in 100% in hustle, focus. In the first half, we were losing by four, and in the locker room, we were a bit upset. But it was a good thing. In the second half, we switched up a bit and did a great job both on defense and offense”, he also said.
In the EuroLeague Post-Game Show, he was asked about Edy Tavares’ performance, as he ended with a double-double of 24 points and 18 rebounds. “He’s a hell of a player”, he first commented. “One of the top players on this team, we need him so bad, we need this kind of game from him”, he added.
“We have to live the process and try to keep the team united”, Facundo Campazzo followed. “Games like tonight are welcomed to us. He’s having a great season too. I don’t wanna repeat myself, but if we control the defense, we play with hustle, we can score in so many ways. Edy’s one of those ways”, he ended.
