Since when Filip Petrusev left Olympiacos to return to Crvena Zvezda, he has been playing as one of the best players in the whole EuroLeague. Tonight, it was no different, as he tied his career-high in scoring with 25 points to drag his team to the 101-77 win over Bayern Munich.
In the post-game, he showed his happiness. “We really needed this win to get our confidence, game, and sweat back on. We played the whole four minutes with great defense and offense”, he first commented.
“The energy was different. Everything was like it was supposed to be, everybody was positive and full of energy. The crowd pushed us even more. When we’re focused for 40 minutes, this is what it looks like”, Filip Petrusev followed.
“Keep coming, keep pushing us”, he finally said to the fans.
Opposite reactions from head coaches
Ioannis Sfairopoulos followed his player by praising the whole team’s effort against the Bavarian side.
“We reacted really well, we saw today how good we can play. It was a dominant game for the whole team”, the Greek head coach commented about Crvena Zvezda tonight.
“Defensively we were very focused, we followed the plan. We played against the best offense and best-scoring team in the league. Offensively shared the ball, we had great movement to find the best options to shoot. We had a good sample of what we can do when we play with great concentration”, he added.
Gordon Herbert, instead, wasn’t happy with how his team showed up in Belgrade. “Almost everything”, he answered when asked about what went wrong. “Their will, their desire, their commitment to win battles was much better than ours. End of story”, he then said in the post-game press conference.
