Pending medical tests, John Brown III is set to sign a contract with Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet.

The former president of the team based in the capital of Serbia, Nebojsa Covic talked about the situation surrounding the 32-year-old American forward.

“As far as I know, the whispers are becoming a certainty. Certain in the player arriving soon in Belgrade for medical examination,” the 66-year-old Serbian executive told the Radio Television of Serbia, RTS, on Tuesday.

“He had a serious injury in his shoulder. He is left-handed, the injury was in his right shoulder. He underwent surgery,” Covic referred to the setback at the bottom end of Brown’s stint with AS Monaco, “So, he must be cleared by the medical staff.”

“He is a good and experienced player. If he passes the tests and if he can play immediately instead of the team treating his injury, as we did with [Trey] Thompkins last year,” he added, “That will be an assessment made by the those who work at the club.”

Early in the 2024-25 season, Covic left his position as president of Zvezda to become the new president of the Basketball Federation of Serbia, KSS.

Brown, a former High Point standout, is a veteran of 102 appearances in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague over the last three years between Monaco and UNICS. Expected to spend most of the 2024-25 season recovering from his injury, the defensive specialist parted ways with the La Roca Team in September.
