After two successful years with AS Monaco and recovering from injury, Brown is set to continue his EuroLeague journey with Crvena Zvezda.
The American power forward has already been introduced to the Belgrade team’s passionate fans, meeting them before the ABA League victory over Cibona.
“At this point in my career, I’m used to it, so I just wanted to take as many [photos] and sign as many [autographs] as possible. I can’t please everybody, but I think I managed to please the majority,” John Brown told Meridian Sport.
Since rumors of his transfer began circulating, Crvena Zvezda fans have flooded his social media with messages.
“Definitely on fire. But I’ve never joined a team mid-season before, so that’s a good thing too. To actually see it, feel it, and be a part of it—man, I’m just happy to be here, happy to have the opportunity.”
Brown revealed that playing for a club with a massive fanbase like Crvena Zvezda’s has been a long-time dream.
“I’ve been talking about this my entire career with my wife. Just to play for a bigger crowd. I’ve had somewhat large crowds before, but never of this magnitude or with this level of togetherness. I’ve been wanting to experience this.”
Speaking about his recovery, Brown said he is nearly fully ready to return to action.
“Everything’s good. I’m probably about 98% right now. I just need to get into it with the team, learn the system, and build chemistry with the guys in practice. Then I should be ready to roll.”
When asked about his debut, Brown added: “I don’t actually know yet. We’ll see how I feel over the next two weeks and go from there.”
Brown is excited to reunite with Isaiah Canaan, with whom he previously played at UNICS Kazan.
“It’s exciting. I know his movements, I know his mentality. It’s going to be good. We’re going to play off each other, feed each other, and do our best to win.”
Additionally, he’s thrilled to share the court with Milos Teodosic.
“He’s a legend, man. I’ve had the chance to see him in the league and played against him when he was at Virtus. I need me a few passes,” John Brown said.
