Due to an injury in his right foot, Fenerbahce Beko’s Arturs Zagars is out indefinitely.
The Istanbul outfit updated the status of the 24-year-old Latvian point guard on Wednesday.
The injury occurred during Round 9 of the 2024-25 Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi Regular Season and a meeting with Turk Telekom in Ankara Arena on Sunday.
Lasting just over 18 minutes, Zagars tallied three points, five assists, two rebounds, and one steal. His side prevailed and improved to 8-1, remaining second in the BSL standings, one game behind undefeated Tofas.
The ensuing medical tests revealed mild damage in his foot, prompting rehab to return to action.
The team coached by Sarunas Jasikevicius is preparing for Round 15 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season and a clash with AS Monaco in Ulker Sports Arena on Thursday evening. Besides Zagars, Devon Hall (left hand surgery), Dyshawn Pierre (right calf), and Scottie Wilbekin (right knee surgery) are also out. The remaining players are healthy.
At 10-4 and trailing leader Paris by one game, Fener ranks second in the EuroLeague standings, after 14 out of 34 fixtures on the regular-season schedule. The top six teams will advance directly to the Playoffs and the next four seeds will battle it out for the two remaining berths in the Play-In Showdown.
Over 19 appearances in the ongoing continental and domestic journeys, Zagars, an international player with Latvia, averaged 8.0 points, 2.9 assists, 1.3 rebounds, 0.7 steals, and 0.1 blocks per contest.
