Olympiacos announced the signing of Nathan Mensah for the remainder of the season, with the option for one more year.
It was an expected move after the announcement that Moses Wright was done forthe season but nobody expected that Mensah would be the new addition.
The 26-year-old Ghanaian center was playing for the Austin Spurs of the NBA G League.
Known for his immense 7-foot-5-inch (226 cm) wingspan, he played college basketball for the San Diego State Aztecs.
This is his first time in Europe.
After going undrafted in the 2023 NBA draft, Mensah joined the Charlotte Hornets for the 2023 NBA Summer League.
He started the season in the Greensboro Swarm of the NBA G League.
On 14 December, he signed a two-way contract with the Hornets, and the next day, he made his NBA debut in a 112–107 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.
This season he played for the San Antonio Spurs G League affiliate before getting the call of Olympiacos.
