An appeal by Panathinaikos Aktor on the one-game suspension against Kendrick Nunn was denied. Therefore, the 29-year-old American guard will not play for the team coached by Ergin Ataman on Friday.
Serving the suspension, Nunn will sit out Round 15 of the 2024-25 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season and the meeting with Anadolu Efes in Istanbul’s Basketball Development Center.
Nunn was sanctioned with a one-game suspension and a fine of 5,000 euros for the lack of respect towards a member of the officiating crew during the game against Partizan Mozzart Bet in Belgrade Arena last Thursday, as officially confirmed by Euroleague Basketball on Tuesday. The Greens used the right to appeal before the Appeals Judge but the decision stands, forcing the leading star of Panathinaikos to miss the next fixture in the 34-game double-legged round-robin schedule of the Regular Season.
Besides the veteran of 212 games played in the NBA between the Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, and Washington Wizards, Ataman will also miss injured members of the squad, Marius Grigonis (back surgery) and Kostas Antetokounmpo (knee). The remaining players are available for the meeting with his former team.
Tied with three other teams at the bottom end of the top six seeds leading directly to the Playoffs, the Greek giant, reigning EuroLeague champions are looking to improve to 9-6. Over the first 14 displays in Europe’s premier club continental competition, Nunn contributed 18.4 points, 3.3 assists, 3.3 rebounds, 0.9 steals, and 0.4 blocks per contest.
