It’s quite easy to remark on Zach LeDay’s amazing contribution to Milan, especially considering last year’s gap of leadership for Ettore Messina’s team. This year, he has changed this squad’s face.
The former Partizan Belgrade forward, who already played in the Italian metropolis during the 2020-21 campaign, contributing to the Final Four run in the EuroLeague that lasted till the Semi-Finals against Barcelona, is shining for Milan, which is on a roll lately.
Recording his career-high in points scored (33) in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, he was huge in giving Milan the sixth consecutive victory in the competition, escaping from Barcelona with a 94-81 statement win. Therefore, he was the natural choice for MVP of Round 15.
Winning in Barcelona was particularly important for him, as he emotionally stated in the post-game interview. “My dad was just with me tonight. The last time I was in this arena, I had to leave and go bury, so my dad was with me tonight”, he opened up.
Thus far, the 30-year-old forward has been excellent in the EuroLeague, averaging amazing numbers: spending 28:25 minutes on the court, he’s putting up 16.7 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, shooting amazingly from two (52.8%), three (56.5%), and at the line (91.9%).
Despite such a performance in Barcelona, he didn’t record his career-high Performance Index Rating. Zach LeDay’s best game in PIR is still Olympiacos-Buducnost from November 2018, when he registered 42 in such a category following a 28-point and 8-rebound night.
