Panathinaikos and Kendrick Nunn couldn’t be denied.
Nunn has set a new record for three-pointers made in a quarter with seven in the first quarter and tied the record for most points in a quarter with 21, on the way to a total of a EuroLeague career high of 39 points and a 103-74 win for Panathinaikos over EA7 Emporio Armani Milan.
Panathinaikos and the Italians are now tied with a 9-7 record in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague standings, however, it was a night to remember.
In total Nunn had 8/16 threes and Jerian Grant added 12. “It was a statement win”, said Nunn after the final buzzer, while coach Ergin Ataman was in a joking mood.
“Nunn missed a game (ed.note: due to his one-game suspension) and he scored 39 points so he can stay on his average”, he said with a smile, totally satisfied from his star’s performance.
Nikola Mirotic with 16 was the top scorer of Milan.
A one-Nunn show
Panathinaikos started the game with a 14-o run in 3,5 minutes and jumped to a 38-11 lead with Nunn having already 21 points on 7/8 threes.
The first quarter ended with the score being 38-15 after a three by Dimitrijevic, but already Panathinaikos was in the driver’s seat not slowing down.
The Greeks led by 29 (59-28), closed the first half up by 22 (62-40) and Nunn had 26 points already.
Nothing changed after that. The score at the end of the third period was 79-60, Nunn opened the fourth with one more three (82-60) and the game was practically over.
Panathinaikos didn’t slow down and ended up with a 39-point triumph
