Olympiacos got the 90-85 win over ALBA with an 8-0 run in the last minute and a half thanks to Evan Fournier and Sahsa Vezenkov.
The two stars made things happen as ALBA Berlin was near an unexpected win.
In the end, Fournier scored 23 points, Vezenkov had 17 and also Moustapha Fall had a great presence in the paint with 18 points.
“It’s great to be back and have this team win and after all what counts is the win”, said Fall after the game.
Thanks to this result Olympiacos with an 11-6 record tied Monaco half a step away from the top of the standings, after Paris stayed at 11-5.
ALBA despite the effort remains last in the standings with a 3-14 record. Matt Thomas with 19 points was the top scorer of the Germans.
Fournier the savior
Olympiacos started the game with a 7-point lead (26-19) in the first period, but they couldn’t get a real distance.
ALBA was trailing by three at halftime (44-41) and by seven (69-62) at the end of the third, despite Olympiacos getting a 12-point advantage (66-54).
The Reds managed to extend their lead to nine points (71-62) starting the last quarter, only for ALBA to react and get a one-point lead, first with Ziga Samar (75-74) and then with a three by Thomas (81-80) and five minutes left.
ALBA not only didn’t back down but got a crucial 85-82 lead thanks to Elias Rapieque with one minute and 27 seconds on the clock.
With the game on the line, Fournier made two big shots (86-85) and Vezenkov sealed the deal with four free throws.
