Trevion Lamon Williams was born on September 16, 2000, in Chicago. His father, Theodore, used to take Trevion to pickup games, where he began developing his game. He excelled in his high school team, including a season where he averaged 22 points and 25 rebounds per game and recorded five triple-doubles. These outstanding performances earned him offers from various colleges, and he chose to play and study at Purdue.
With the Boilermakers, it took Williams some time to find his footing, but in his sophomore season, he became a starting player and impressed with a 35-point, 20-rebound performance against Michigan. By his junior season, his averages soared to 15.5 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. In his senior year, Trevion was named Sixth Man of the Year in the Big Ten Conference after Canadian giant Zach Edey took his starting spot (and later became the ninth pick in the latest NBA draft).
Williams began his professional career in the G-League, first with Santa Cruz Warriors and later with the Capital City Go-Go. After one year, he signed with German team Ulm, where he starred in the EuroCup, averaging about 15 points and 11 rebounds per game (ranking first in the competition). His strong showing earned him looks from the EuroLeague, and ALBA Berlin signed him this past summer. He quickly adapted to the top-tier European competition, delivering standout performances such as a 23-point, 11-rebound game in a win over Milan and a 28-point, 9-rebound, 6-assist, 4-steal effort against Bayern.
