Scanning the market for available players, Panathinaikos Aktor is looking into Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv’s Wenyen Gabriel.

With Mathias Lessort projected to remain sidelined for four months, the Greens listed Gabriel among potential options.

Shy of a final decision, the defending Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champions are also facing a deadline on December 25. Players switching between EuroLeague clubs, such as Gabriel, must be registered by Wednesday to be eligible to play in the second half of the double-legged round-robin schedule of EuroLeague’s Regular Season.

On the opposite end of the interest, Maccabi officially welcomed 24-year-old center Trevion Williams. The Yellows were seeking a replacement in the five position, considering a possible departure of the starting center.

Over nine appearances in the 2024-25 edition of Europe’s premier club continental competition, including seven features in the starting lineup of Oded Kattash, Gabriel tallied 5.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.1 blocks per contest. Displaying his talents in Israel’s Winner League, he put in 5.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game over five appearances.

Over five years in the NBA, the Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Pelicans, Portland Trail Blazers, and Sacramento Kings shaped his stops. The former Kentucky standout went from 152 NBA games to signing a two-year contract with Maccabi in July.

Israeli outlet “One” first reported the interest of Panathinaikos for the player.
