Furkan Korkmaz is no longer a member of AS Monaco.

La Roca Team deregistered the Turkish sharpshooter from the official Turkish Airlines EuroLeague roster and officially announced his departure on Thursday.

“AS Monaco Basket and Furkan Korkmaz have mutually agreed to part ways.

The Turkish international guard has unfortunately been unable to showcase his full potential due to injuries.

The entire Roca Team family extends its gratitude to Furkan Korkmaz for his professionalism”

The removal from the EuroLeague squad prior to the deadline on Wednesday makes him eligible for any other EuroLeague team in the second half of the 34-game Regular Season. It remains unclear whether the Istanbul native will consider such options as a free agent or perhaps continue his career outside of the league.

Since resurfacing in the top-tier European club continental competition during the offseason, Korkmaz was limited to three appearances. Navigating various injuries, he averaged 4.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game over those three fixtures. In France’s Betclic Elite, he tallied 4.3 points per contest.

Between 2017 and 2023, he logged 361 appearances in the NBA with the Philadelphia 76ers. An earlier stint with Anadolu Efes produced 40 EuroLeague games.

Nick Calathes is back

Ramping up activities over recent weeks and initially considered probable for his season debut in the EuroLeague before Round 16, Nick Calathes is cleared to play in Round 18 against Efes in Salle Gaston Medecin on Thursday evening.

Juhann Begarin, Jaron Blossomgame, Vitto Brown, Nick Calathes, Petr Cornelie, Mouhammadou Jaiteh, Mike James, Jordan Loyd, Donatas Motiejunas, Elie Okobo, Giorgos Papagiannis, Matthew Strazel, and Terry Tarpey are also available for head coach Vassilis Spanoulis. Alpha Diallo (left knee) remains sidelined.

At the midway point of the EuroLeague Regular Season, Monaco is tied with two other teams at 11-6 and in second place in the standings, half a game behind leader Paris. An 8-4 domestic tally is tied for fourth overall, trailing Cholet, LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, and Paris.
