Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv bounced back after five straight losses with a convincing victory over Zalgiris Kaunas at Belgrade’s Aleksandar Nikolić Hall.
It was a tough defeat for the Lithuanian side, and head coach Andrea Trinchieri didn’t mince words in the postgame press conference.
“Congrats to Maccabi; they deserved to win. They played better, with better chemistry and energy, and they destroyed us. It’s a very sad night for us; we embarrassed ourselves. All the good things we did, we just threw in the garbage, having a game where we didn’t compete, didn’t have enough physical and mental energy to do basic stuff. The whole team didn’t care enough, and this is extremely disappointing. It’s delusional, the worst game of the season, and it’s the wrong thing to do. I expected something different, something more, better, but I tried to move the players, and nothing changed. This is a strong, hard reality check,” the Italian coach said.
With this win, Maccabi improved to a 5-13 record, while Zalgiris dropped to 10-8.
