He was supposed to start the EuroLeague season with Fenerbahce after moving to Turkiye in the summer, but Luka Samanic eventually came to Baskonia as a present for New Year’s Eve.
The soon-to-be 25-year-old Croatian center signed with the Turkish club at the beginning of August but never really debuted with the yellow-and-blue powerhouse, parting ways midway through September.
Following his departure from Fenerbahce, he signed with Cibona Zagreb in the ABA League, where he promised 9.8 points and 5.7 rebounds over three games. He had 20 points in the loss to Crvena Zvezda.
Prior to this season, he stayed between NBA and G-League from 2019 to 2024, being selected with the 19th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft by San Antonio. He also signed contracts with New York and Utah.
In the whole 2023-24 NBA Season with the Utah Jazz, alongside another European big man like Lauri Markkanen, he had 4.1 points and 2.4 rebounds per game.
He emerged as one of the most interesting European prospects during the 2017-18 Adidas Next Generation Tournament, putting up an averaged double-double of 23.2 points and 14.8 rebounds with Barcelona U18. He moved to the Catalan youth system the year before.
