After parting ways with Raul Neto due to a second injury in a month, Barcelona is set to sign former player Thomas Heurtel.
Mundo Deportivo reports that the club has reached an agreement with the experienced French point guard until the end of the 2024/25 season.
For the deal to be completed, Heurtel must pass a mandatory medical examination before signing the contract.
Per Eurohoops sources, the French guard is expected to arrive tonight in Barcelona and his signing might be confirmed tomorrow.
Mundo adds that the operation was expedited due to interest from other EuroLeague teams in Heurtel.
Thomas Heurtel had a strong start to his first stint at Barcelona (2017-2021), winning Copa del Rey MVP twice. However, a knee injury and a reduced role under Jasikevicius led to tensions and his departure. After a brief spell at ASVEL, he joined Madrid but failed to meet expectations and parted ways after one season.
Heurtel then played for Zenit St. Petersburg for two years, receiving a ban from the French national team, before spending a few months at Shenzen in China earlier this season.
