After two and a half years, McCollum is reportedly set to leave Karsiyaka and return to the EuroLeague with Fenerbahçe Beko, according to Turkish DHA.
As stated, Karsiyaka has faced financial struggles this season, relying on community support, ticket sales, advertising revenues, and the Yasar family to cover player salaries and prevent the team from disbanding. Despite these efforts, several foreign players have departed, with McCollum’s exit being the latest.
The 37-year-old, who joined Karsiyaka in 2022 and reached the league finals in 2023, unilaterally terminated his contract after receiving only half of his salary earlier this week. He is reportedly headed to Fenerbahçe, with the two teams set to face off this Sunday at the Mustafa Kemal Atatürk Karşıyaka Sports Hall in the Turkish BSL.
The older brother of NBA player C.J. McCollum, Errick is expected to return to the EuroLeague with Sarunas Jasikevicius’ team. He previously made 57 appearances for Anadolu Efes and Khimki Moscow, averaging 13.1 points per game.
James Webb III joining ALBA Berlin
As for other departures, DHA reports that Jerry Boutsiele left the team last week after issuing a warning through FIBA, while Damien Jefferson terminated his contract despite receiving his salary late.
Lastly, former Valencia and Maccabi Tel Aviv player James Webb III has signed with EuroLeague’s ALBA Berlin, according to reports.
Karsiyaka is expected to receive a buyout of $60,000 in Webb’s case, while the player will forgo his $40,000 salary.
