There was no way Maccabi Tel Aviv could have come back tonight in Belgrade, as Partizan pushed from the very beginning at home and stayed ahead until the very last seconds by getting the 98-75 win.
In the post-game interview, Zeljko Obradovic dedicated some words to the opponents. “I’m very happy for my players and our people, but Maccabi is very tired, they are in a very difficult position. It’s the second year they play outside their home, a lot of trips and it’s not easy for them”, he opened.
The experienced Serbian head coach also spoke about the teddybear toss organized by the black-and-white club, collecting toys for the young ones. “Something special, like last year. I believe our people understood very well and brought a lot of things to kids”, he commented.
“It was the first time I saw something like that”, team-high scorer Sterling Brown added about it. “The fans are so passionate and live for us. We can’t do anything but show up and show out for them”, he said.
Carlik Jones on New Year’s resolutions for Partizan
Carlik Jones, who went close to a double-double at 11 points and 8 assists against Maccabi, joined him. “We know we can accomplish a lot this year. We’re looking forward to the end of the season”, he said.
“It’s special how we played together for the whole 40 minutes. We shared the ball and defended well. It is a great way to stay the new year off. That’s what we wanted, get back to being ourselves, and play our brand of basketball. We did it tonight”, the South Sudanese guard followed.
Carlik Jones also spoke on how the team is recovering injured players. “We’re slowly getting everybody back, we’re happy guys are back joining us. We want to keep being a better version of ourselves and we are trying to work towards something so we’re gonna take it game by game”, he concluded.
