Ioannis Sfairopoulos took over Crvena Zvezda after the start of the 2023/24 season and won three trophies by the end of it. This season, his side is making strides in the EuroLeague, currently sitting in sixth place after 19 rounds.

As a result, Crvena Zvezda has reportedly decided to extend his stay in Belgrade with a new deal until 2027, as first reported by Meridian Sport and later officially confirmed by the Belgrade club.

Sfairopoulos’ original contract was set to expire at the end of the current season, and this extension could provide a renewed sense of stability for the Greek coach and his team ahead of the crucial stages of the 2024/25 season.

Sfairopoulos recently coached his 100th game with Crvena Zvezda in a win over Baskonia. His team currently holds an 11-8 record in the EuroLeague and sits atop the ABA League standings alongside Partizan and Budućnost with a 13-2 record.
