Real Madrid is reportedly searching for potential reinforcements, and according to MARCA, they have shown interest in Joventut’s forward Sam Dekker.
It’s worth noting that the experienced U.S. player has a temporary contract with the Badalona team until January 18th.
Dekker joined Joventut with a one-month contract in mid-November, which was extended on December 18th. In seven ACB League games, he has averaged 14.3 points and 5.4 rebounds.
A potential problem for Real Madrid would be his status as a non-EU player. Should he join, Chus Mateo would be forced to make a choice in the domestic competitions between Dekker, the currently injured Gabriel Deck, and Xavier Rathan-Mayes.
Dekker has made 201 NBA appearances with the Houston Rockets, LA Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Washington Wizards, and Toronto Raptors. He then played in Europe for Lokomotiv Kuban, Turk Telekom, Bahçeşehir, and London Lions. With the latter, he excelled in the EuroCup and won MVP honors in the British Basketball League.
