Following a medical evaluation of a recent injury in his left foot, Will Clyburn is expected to miss at least ten weeks.

The devastating news for Virtus Segafredo Bologna was reported by the local press on Tuesday morning, shortly before on official update.

Per the press release: “Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna S.p.A. announces that during the championship game with Reggio Emilia, Will Clyburn suffered a partial injury to the plantar fascia of his left foot.

The player will undergo specific treatments, will be re-evaluated periodically and will be absent from competition for a period of no less than 10 weeks.”

Clyburn, 34, was forced to an early exit from a domestic clash with UnaHotels Reggio Emilia on Sunday. He did not return to the court following an injury midway through the first quarter of Round 14 of Italy’s LBA UnipolSai Regular Season but was later spotted with crutches on the bench.

Tornike Shengelia and Ante Zizic are also dealing with injuries and are projected to miss several more games, including a meeting between the team coached by Dusko Ivanovic and Baskonia in Virtus Segafredo Arena on Friday.

The former Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champion with CSKA and MVP of the 2019 Final Four, Clyburn launched his ninth campaign in Europe’s premier club continental competition with 13.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest over 19 appearances, all starts. In domestic action, he averaged 8.7 points per game in 12 LBA contests.

Disappointing EuroLeague displays for Vu Nere have limited the W-L tally to 5-14, five games away from the Play-In Showdown zone. At 10-4 in the Italian league, they trail co-leaders Dolomiti Energia Trento and Germani Brescia by one game.
