EuroLeague GMs mid-season survey: Nunn and Shorts favored in the MVP race

EuroLeague fulfilled its tradition this year as well, asking general managers of all clubs about which teams and players stood out during the first half of the 2024/25 season.

The results of the mid-season survey have arrived, and there are several interesting answers.

GMs touted Panathinaikos’ Kendrick Nunn and Paris’ T.J. Shorts to claim the MVP honors, with both receiving 33.3% of the votes. They also see Nunn as the Best Clutch Player and Shorts as the Best Leader and the Most Spectacular Player.

As for the Rising Star Award, most general managers gave their vote to Paris’ Nadir Hifi (33.3%), while ASVEL’s Theo Maledon and Barcelona’s Juan Nunez received 22.2% each. Maledon also won the vote for Best Breakout Season with 33.3% of the votes, ahead of Shorts, who received 28.7%.

Real Madrid’s Walter Tavares got 38.9% of the votes for Best Defender, and Facundo Campazzo earned a staggering 72.2% for Best Passer, while Bayern Munich’s Andreas Obst had the same percentage in the category Best Pure Shooter.

When asked who they would like to sign from EuroLeague teams, most of the general managers mentioned Panathinaikos’ Mathias Lessort and Maledon, with both French players receiving 16.7% of the votes.

Baskonia’s Chima Moneke was chosen for Best Player Social Media Account (38.9%), and Zalgiris Kaunas for Best Team Social Media Account (22.2%).

Paris’ rookie head coach Thiago Splitter was touted as the Best Head Coach with 27.8% of the votes.

Which four teams will be competing against each other in late May? General managers see Panathinaikos (88.9%), Olympiacos (83.3%), Fenerbahce (66.7%), and Monaco (61.1%) as the top Final Four candidates.

Paris won the vote for the Most Surprising (88.9%) and Most Fun-to-Watch Team (77.8%), as well as for the Most Uncomfortable Opponent (27.8%).
