Trapani Shark addressed recent rumors concerning Dame Sarr and confirmed a strong interest in the promising upstart on Friday.
Sarr, 18, is a candidate to be selected in the 2025 NBA draft. He is under contract with FC Barcelona but might move to the Italian club on loan. Discussions between the interested parties are underway but shy of a deal, as noted.
After earning a permanent spot on the senior squad of Barca, Sarr registered eight appearances in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, averaging 1.4 points, 0.5 rebounds, 0.4 steals, 0.4 assists, and 0.1 blocks in approximately four minutes per contest. In the 2023-24 edition of Europe’s premier club continental competition, he previously was featured in two games with the Catalonia giant. From four games played in Spain’s Liga Endesa through the last two years, he made his way to five more games of the ongoing edition of ACB, tallying 1.2 points and 0.7 rebounds per contest.
Further developing his talents in a bigger role with Shark can emerge as a suitable option, before heading to the next draft of the league based in North America. At 10-4 in Italy’s LBA UnipolSai, the Sicilian club is currently tied for third in the standings.
Besides coming out of the youth teams of Barcelona, the Treviso native represented Italy in multiple junior international tournaments and was capped for the first time at the senior level last November, against Iceland in the Qualifiers of the 2025 EuroBasket.
