Wemby took down the Lakers, Zubac shined against Miami

The Los Angeles Lakers hosted the San Antonio Spurs and Victor Wembanyama at the Crypto.com arena, honoring Michael Cooper by retiring his No. 21 jersey. However, the visitors spoiled the celebration with a convincing victory.

The French star led the Spurs to a 126-102 win, recording 23 points, eight rebounds, five assists, three steals, and two blocks in front of the Lakers legends, including Vlade Divac, who came to honor Cooper.

Since entering the league, no player has had more games than Wembanyama with at least 20 points and two blocks.

Interestingly, another game took place in Los Angeles last night as the Clippers hosted the Miami Heat, and once again, a European center stole the spotlight.

Ivica Zubac shined as the Clippers defeated the Heat 109-89, with the Croatian posting 21 points and a season-high 20 rebounds. On the other side, Nikola Jović contributed five points, six rebounds, and three assists but struggled from the field, shooting just 1/10.

The Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Washington Wizards 120-106 on the road, led by Anthony Edwards’ 41 points and Rudy Gobert’s double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Two other Frenchmen stood out for the Wizards: Bilal Coulibaly scored 15 points, and Alex Sarr contributed 13, while KyShawn George added 10 points, and Jonas Valančiūnas recorded eight points and eight rebounds.

Darko Rajaković’s Toronto Raptors edged the Golden State Warriors 104-101 in Canada. Austrian Jakob Poeltl recorded a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds, while Dennis Schröder scored 12 points for the losing side.

The Houston Rockets secured a narrow 120-118 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies, with Alperen Şengün contributing 17 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. On the opposing side, Santi Aldama finished with five points, two rebounds, and three assists.
