Milan was considered the better team before the tipoff and it was proven in the end beyond any doubt.
The Italians got the 100-68 win over ALBA Berlin, having a solid 12-9 record and a spot in the Top 10 of the standings, while ALBA remains last at 3-18.
It was a competitive game only for the first 20 minutes and when Milan decided to create a solid distance, ALBA collapsed.
Nicolas Mirotic with 21 points, Zach LeDay with 18, and Shavon Shields with 16 led a balanced team effort, while ALBA got 13 points by Yanni Wetzell.
As Mirotic said: “When you play with Zach LeDay, it’s always easier. Stefano Tonut also made a difference tonight with his defense”.
Third quarter dominance
ALBA led for the first two minutes of the game and then the tables were turned. At the end of the first period, the hosts were up by four (23-19) and in the second pushed their lead to nine (41-32).
ALBA didn’t back down, but at the end of the first half, Milan was up by four (47-44) with Mirotic and Bolmaro already having 10 points each.
And that was the end of the competitive part of the game. Milan dominated the third period (31-10) putting on a show, while ALBA couldn’t keep up.
The Germans once more didn’t have the depth and quality to react when the Italians changed gear and Milan entered the last quarter leading by 25 points (78-53).
Nothing changed until the end, as both teams simply exchanged baskets until the final buzzer with ALBA accepting defeat.
