Paris Basketball coach Tiago Splitter and his players felt quite relieved to grab their first EuroLeague win since December and after five straight losses.
“We all lost 200 kilos that we were carrying on our backs,” Splitter said after Paris beat Anadolu Efes at home when asked about the feeling in the locker room. “It’s normal in sports. Sometimes you go through runs like that. You got to stick together and you got to stay positive. You got to work on the basics like we do every day. Some tweaks on defense, some tweaks on offense and go to the next one and the next one. That’s how we’re going to treat the whole season.”
While Paris bounced back as a whole, one particular player found his shooting touch after a rough stretch. Forward Mika Jantunen had 2 out of 4 triples after going o out of 22 over the previous seven matches.
He also drained the dagger from the corner that made it 85 – 78 with 43 seconds left to play and more or less secured the win for Paris
“I’m happy for him,” said Splitter. “He’s a guy that works every day. Humble. A warrior. Playing here and playing there. It doesn’t matter, he’s just there competing in every possession.. A guy like that when you see him succeed and making shots… he deserves. He puts in the work and he needs a couple of threes. It’s also good for the whole group.”
