Olympiacos was coming off a seven-win streak, but Fenerbahce had the way to beat them.

For the second time this season, both at home and now on the road, Fenerbahce managed to beat the Reds with the final score being 87-77.

Olympiacos with a 16-7 record remains on top of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague standings, while Fenerbahce is just behind them at 15-7, having played one game less and also having the tie breaker over the Greeks.

Marko Guduric with 21 points and Nigel Hayes-Davis with 14 points led a balanced offense, while newcomer Errick McCollum added 12 points.

The mood was high in Fenerbahce and coach Sarunas Jasikevicius even joked in his flash interview after the game, admitting that after such a performance Guduric deserves a beer: “Marko asked me for water after the match, I didn’t understand why he asked for water instead of a beer when he had finished work”.

Sasha Vezenkov with 19 points and Evan Fournier with 21, but also 6 out of nine FG, couldn’t make things happen for the home side. Olympiacos missed again Thomas Walkup and also Shaq McKissic and most importantly finished the night with 5/14 threes.

On top of that, big man Moustapha Fall (finger) and guard Luca Vildoza (abdominal) were injured during the game.

Fenerbahce in control

Olympiacos closed the first quarter leading by four points (21-17), but Fenerbahce reacted and after two threes by Arturs Zagars they got a 41-33 lead.

Olympiacos managed to trim the halftime advantage of Fenerbahce to three points (43-40), however, the Reds couldn’t change the momentum despite playing at home.

Fenerbahce had all the answers, led by 10 (69-59) at the end of the third period, and cruised until the end with Olympiacos not being able to get closer than five points (72-67) after a three by Vildoza and six minutes left.

Fenerbahce wasn’t rattled and pushed their advantage back to 14 points (83-69) with Guduric taking over.
