After six years as the CEO of Virtus Segafredo Bologna, Luca Baraldi has left the position, as announced by team owner Massimo Zanneti in a press conference on Wednesday.
“There are no issues inside Virtus Bologna,” said Zanneti, “I’m proud to be the owner, and I’ll continue to be the owner also in the future. I have a good relationship with my partner, Carlo Gheardi, and we have no issues. There’s a very good situation inside the club.”
Marco Comellini will be the new CEO. Additional changes in the front office will result in a new board of directors to be announced over the next few days.
“Luca Baraldi will leave and Marco Comellini will come in and manage the financial/administrative area. At the same time, Paolo Ronci, who I trust a lot, will continue to manage the sporting area,” mentioned Zanneti.
Meanwhile, GM Paolo Ronci updated the status of Justin Holiday, projecting the former NBA player penning a three-month contract with an option for another two months, provided head coach Dusko Ivanovic approves his addition to the squad. “We thought inviting him here to evaluate him was the best course of action,” he said on the 35-year-old winger agreeing to join Vu Nere on a trial period.
Ronci also talked about Ante Zizic recovering from an elbow injury. “He had surgery in his elbow,” he revealed, “He will be back in three to four weeks. He will not be replaced. We are waiting for him.”
