The latest injury concern for FC Barcelona emerged in the form of Jan Vesely.

The 34-year-old big was ruled out of the game against Baskonia in Fernando Buesa Arena on Thursday due to knee discomfort, head coach Joan Penarroya confirmed on Wednesday, previewing the 2024-25 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Round 24 contest.

In addition, Justin Anderson will remain sidelined with a right hamstring injury, after sitting out Round 18 of Spain’s Liga Endesa Regular Season and an overtime win over UCAM Murcia on Sunday.

“My feeling is that no reinforcement will arrive,” said Penarroya, who is also missing Nicolas Laprovittola, since the experienced guard underwent season-ending surgery in his right knee in October.

Besides current members of the roster, Barca recently parted ways with Raul Neto due to the 32-year-old point guard struggling to overcome injuries and being limited to two appearances since signing with the storied club in December. He was originally slated as a replacement for Laprovittola.

“With the squad we have, we will give everything, just as we have done so far,” added the head coach of the Catalonia powerhouse, downplaying the potential of another similar move.

Countering adversity with six wins over the last seven team outings across all competitions, Barcelona is 13-10 and tied with three other teams in sixth place of the EuroLeague standings, amid a tight race for playoff berth, and also improved to 10-8 in Spain’s Liga Endesa Regular Season, reducing the distance from first place to four games.
