Panathinaikos traveled to Milan without Mathias Lessort, Omer Yurtseven, and Marius Grigonis.

Still, even without them, the defending champions have proven that they are capable of winning anywhere.

Milan on the other hand, after losing by 44 points to Efes seemed like an easy target even on the road.

That wasn’t the case, thanks to an inspired Zack LeDay who scored 33 points to lead EA7 Emporio Armani Milan to the 87-75 win.

As LeDay, who also got eight rebounds, said: “With the champs coming, you’ve got to come to play. I wanted to bring my mentality, me best and show that I am one of the best in Europe overall”.

Kostas Sloukas with 22 points, Kendrick Nunn with 18, and Cedi Ormans with 12 tried their best for the Greens but came up short, as Panathinaikos dropped to 14-10 with Milan just one step behind them (13-11) in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague standings.

Milan’s miracle night

The first half was balanced with both teams exchanging the lead, Milan having a one-point advantage after the first quarter and despite a seven-point cushion (31-24) closing the first half up by two (39-37).

LeDay already had 17 points for the home team, while Nunn had 10 from the guests.

Milan opened up the second half building a 49-41 lead behind 13 points by Mannion and Panathinaikos couldn’t come back after that.

At the end of the third period, the Italians were up by 16 (66-50) after a partial score of 27-13 in the quarter and kept things in control until the final buzzer.

Despite the efforts of Sloukas, Panathinaikos couldn’t get closer than nine points.
