Baskonia was involved in another dramatic finish in the EuroLeague, and after Kevin Punter tied the score with mere seconds remaining, Trent Forrest took matters into his own hands.

The US guard hit the game-winning floater in the dying moments, showing once again that he is on the right track in European basketball, finishing the game with 15 points, six assists, and four rebounds.

It was a good play, drawn up by our coach. I just got to my spot and made the shot. It feels good; we haven’t been on this side of these close games, so it feels good to finally be able to do it,” Forrest said about the winning play.

Chima Moneke was Baskonia‘s MVP with a PIR of 34, but he deservedly gave credit to Forrest after the match.

Everyone stepped up. I want to give a special shout-out to Trent Forrest. Coming from America to play in Europe in the EuroLeague isn’t easy. I told him in preseason that there would be an adjustment period, and he is one of the best teammates I’ve ever had. He never complains, always listens, is very humble, and now everyone is seeing Trent Forrest the way I knew we would. I’m happy for him that he got his moment today. He’s going to be a big part of our team and for the rest of his career in Europe,” Moneke said.

Pablo Laso emphasizes that Trent’s contribution goes beyond statistics and game-winners.

We knew it was going to take some time to adjust. I’m very happy for him for the game-winner, but he is doing a lot of good things for us. Sometimes he does things for the team that you don’t see. For sure, he is adjusting to our team and to the EuroLeague, but he is progressing the way he should be,” Laso said.

Hearing the praise from his coach and teammate, Forrest remained humble.

My coaches and teammates, they’ve all given me confidence, even when I wasn’t playing well. They believed in me, and I’m just going to continue working every day,” Trent Forrest concluded.
