Ergin Ataman had a couple of things to say to his team after the final buzzer of the defeat in Milan.
Contrary to the protocol he went to the press conference after the home side coach and without any direct comment about the referees, he implied that the thing that made the difference was the free throws disparity.
As he said: “When I saw the statistics, it’s a very strange situation, because we made one more 3-pointer than Milano. They made one more 2-pointer. We have more assists. There’s only a four-rebound difference. But the most important difference, you saw it in the statistics, I don’t want to mention it”.
Coach Ataman was probably hinting at Milan’s 22 free throw attempts compared to 11 by Panathinaikos.
When he was asked about the fact that Kendric Nunn gets in foul trouble with ease, Ataman admitted that and also added: “We will talk about this tonight, all fouls called to Kendrick were correct, but I don’t want to talk about other calls against us”.
