Tyler Dorsey hasn’t been living the easiest of periods in Olympiacos, coming off three consecutive games played with 0 points scored. In the Greek team’s win over Anadolu Efes, everything was even worse.
Subbed off by Georgios Bartzokas at the conclusion of the second quarter, when Olympiacos was leading 41-30, the Greek guard didn’t shake hands with his head coach and rushed to the locker room. In the second half, he wasn’t put on the court anymore.
In the press conference, the experienced head coach explained his decision: “I want [Tyler] Dorsey to play better. I’d like to have one more option in a player who’s very exuberant in his play. There are two factors about him: how he feels physically, with his athleticism and speed, and mentally,” he said.
“In the EuroLeague, if a player doesn’t enter the equation, it’s all downhill for his team because the opponent punishes every mistake. I wish he plays as we are all expecting him to,” he followed.
“He is not just any player, [because] he has a Greek passport which is important to us. It’s a professional sport here. Sometimes the coach has to be bad and make tough decisions based on the team’s interests,” Bartzokas added.
Tyler Dorsey has been probably living one of his worst seasons since starting his professional career numbers-wise, with only 3.4 points, 0.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists on 10:04 minutes per game.
