Midway through his first professional campaign, the former NCAA player of Duquesne and VCU, Jimmy Clark III moved from Bnei PenLink Herzliya to Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv.
The 23-year-old American combo guard signed a contract until the end of the 2026-27 season, the Yellows announced on Wednesday.
Per the press release: “Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv has signed the talented guard Jimmy Clark, who joins from Bnei Herzliya on a two-and-a-half-year contract. Clark, who will turn 24 this April, is a versatile 1.91m (6’3″) combo guard known for his ability to create shots for himself and for his teammates, as well as his defensive instincts for steals.
Jimmy Clark was born on April 4, 2001, in Covington, Georgia, about a half-hour drive from Atlanta. He is a graduate of Duquesne University, and Herzliya was his first professional stop, following a similar path to former center Shawn James.
In his senior college season, Clark led Duquesne to an impressive campaign—winning the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament – both are feats the school had not achieved since 1977. He averaged 15 points, 3.8 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.3 steals per game during last season.
Clark is regarded as an excellent defender, having been selected twice for the conference’s All-Defensive Team and once for the All-Conference Second Team. In both of his seasons at Duquesne, he led the conference in steals, a skill he has continued to showcase impressively in the Israeli Basketball Premier League.
During the current season, Jimmy Clark started in 16 of Herzliya’s 17 league games, averaging 14.5 points (56.7% from two-point range), 5.8 assists (4th in the league), and 2 steals per game (2nd in the league). In his game against Maccabi, he shined with 19 points (5-of-6 from three), 9 assists, and 7 rebounds.”
