Real Madrid is racing to keep up in the fight for a spot in the post season and did their duty against Virtus Segafredo Bologna.
The final 88-67 gave the Spaniards a 15-14 record in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague standings, which might be enough for a tie in the 10th spot.
Djanan Musa and Walter Tavares, with 13 points each, were the top scorers of the winners, while Mario Hezonja and Usman Garuba also scored 10 points each.
“I’m happy because it was very important for us to win today, and to keep fighting to go into the Playoffs. This is our goal,” Real Madrid coach Chus Mateo said.
On the other side, Matt Morgan, with 11 points, and Rayon Tucker, with 10, were the only scorers in double digits.
Virtus with a 7-22 record is second to last in the standings.
A great first half was enough
Real Madrid set the tone early, leading 30-17 after the first period and 50-33 at halftime.
The “Whites” dominated the first two quarters, led even by 19 points (50-31), playing great defense and scoring at will in offense.
Things didn’t change drastically in the third period, with Madrid keeping a 14-point lead (68-54) and keeping things in check.
Virtus did manage to make it an 11-point game (72-61) after a shot by Andrejs Grazulis and five minutes left but couldn’t do much more.
