Marial Shayok is projected to miss the remainder of the 2024-25 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season.
After suffering a shoulder injury during Sunday’s game against Hapoel Netanel Holon in Menora Mivtachim Arena, he underwent an MRI and was subsequently ruled out for at least three weeks.
Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv updated the status of the South Sudanese winger on Tuesday, before a double-game EuroLeague week featuring meetings with Panathinaikos Aktor and Anadolu Efes.
After introducing himself to Europe’s premier club continental competition with Fenerbahce Beko during the 2021-22 campaign, the 29-year-old guard bounced back with Maccabi, tallying 5.7 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 0.7 steals per contest over 20 appearances, including three starts. At the domestic level, he is up to 9.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.6 steals, and 1.0 assists per game over nine appearances.
At 10-20, the Yellows sit 16th in the EuroLeague standings. With four games left in the double-legged round-robin schedule of the Regular Season, a distance of six games from the Play-In Showdown zone is impossible to cover. The focus is on Israel’s Winner League Regular Season and a battle with Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv for the top seed in the playoff bracket.
With Jasiel Rivero nursing an ankle injury, Jaylen Hoard remaining out with a hamstring injury, and Omer Mayer dealing with a back injury, another addition to the list of unavailable players complicates the task for head coach Oded Kattash down the stretch of the season.
