After the contract extension of Kendrick Nunn, Cedi Osman also is signing a two-year deal with Panathinaikos, as club owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos announced on his social media.
The 30-year-old swingman returned to Europe last summer after seven seasons in the NBA, where he played in Cleveland and the San Antonio Spurs.
While Osman was initially aiming for a possible NBA return, signing a one-year deal, he was convinced to stay with the defending EuroLeague champions, where he emerged as a crucial member of the rotation, being a starter in 15 out of 31 EuroLeague games so far.
He is averaging 7.9 points and 2.4 rebounds so far in the EuroLeague season.
Osman’s deal is not expected to have any NBA out clauses, like in the case of Kendrick Nunn, as Panathinaikos is keeping its core intact for years to come.
Before moving to the NBA, Osman was already a household name in Europe, playing for Anadolu Efes. He is also a key member of the Turkish national team.
His compatriot Ergin Ataman is the coach of both the Turkish national team and Panathinaikos.
