Fenerbahce was successful in clinching the 2nd position in the EuroLeague standings, doing it on the road against Bayern Munich. Something that not a lot of teams were able to say this season.

However, in the post-game flash interviews, both Nigel Hayes-Davis and Sarunas Jasikevicius expressed their satisfaction in a critical way. “We played probably 16 good minutes, which is not good for this time of the year,” Fenerbahce’s No.11 started a few minutes after the final buzzer.

“We’re trying to go into the Playoffs playing 35-40 minutes of good Fenerbahce basketball. Performances like this going into the postseason are how you go out earlier than what you want to.”

“It’s very hard to do the right things for a long time. We got a little lazy and let them keep going. They have maybe the top scorer in the EuroLeague [Carsen Edwards], and he almost brought them back into the game. We got a lot to work on before we start the postseason,” Hayes-Davis added.

The Lithuanian head coach followed afterwards. “He’s not critical, he’s honest. The more players like this you have on your team, the more the chances of winning. This is exactly what happened. When Bayern’s intensity got raised a little bit, they took us out,” he opened.

“It’s a great win, not a lot of teams have won here. We are a veteran team, and looking into the Playoffs, we need to be smarter. I might tell Nigel [Hayes-Davis] is a little bit more than 16 minutes, but I’m happy to have players like these who are willing to push the limits. That’s the only way.”

Wade Baldwin IV was also interviewed post-game. “The season’s over, and we clinched a two seed with home court. That’s the goal in this team’s expectations. We’re ready to gear up for the Playoffs,” he said.
