Lithuanian champions Zalgiris have raised the financial bar for the 2026–27 season.
During Tuesday’s annual presentation, club president Paulius Jankunas and sports director Gediminas Navickas outlined a budget of €28.8 million, before taxes.
Management is allocating €19.7 million of that total directly to player and staff salaries.
These figures signal a major upgrade in spending power compared to previous years.
To fund this campaign, the Kaunas outfit plans to bring in €26.8 million in revenue before the postseason.
This target follows a highly successful financial year. Last season, the Lithuanian powerhouse initially projected a conservative income of €18.8 million, but strong returns pushed actual revenue to €24 million. That windfall helped offset €24.8 million in total expenses, which included €14.5 million for team salaries.
The bump in payroll confirms a clear determination to build on last year’s results. With head coach Tomas Masiulis at the helm and veteran leadership from Jonas Valanciunas and Edgaras Ulanovas on the floor, the team has the backing to compete with the top EuroLeague teams.
After finishing fifth in the EuroLeague and falling to Fenerbahce Beko in the Playoffs, the front office is leveraging this growth to defend their domestic titles and push deeper into continental play.
Zalgiris has begun Lithuania’s Betsson LKL season with two consecutive wins last week. On Thursday, they will tip off their EuroLeague Regular Season campaign on the road, visiting Belgrade Arena to face Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet, before resuming their domestic journey with the season home opener opposite Siauliai on Sunday.
