Dimitris Diamantidis has written another splendorous page in his Euroleague history by climbing in the sixth place of the all time top scorers of the competition.
Panathinaikos‘ captain needed only three points to surpass Nikola Vujcic who finished his career in Euroleague with 2444 points.
Diamantidis’ achievement becomes even more impressive, considering the fact that he is first in ranking, assists, steals, playing time and games that he played as a starter.
When “3D” will be officially honored by Euroleague next week during the game between Panathinaikos and Cedevita in Athens, he will be the sixth best scorer in the history of Euroleague.
His next target now is to surpass Mike Batiste, something which seems quite probable, since Panathinaikos will play at least three more games in the competition, after advancing to the playoffs.
Besides all the above, Dimitris Diamantidis has already won the season MVP title once, he was named Final Four MVP twice and has been included in the All Euroleague First Team four times. Of course, he has been named “Defensive Player of the Year” no less than six times.
However, what definitely makes him feel more proud, are the three Euroleague titles (2007, 2009, 2011) that he has celebrated winning with Panathinaikos’ jersey.
