Nicolo Melli and Brad Wanamaker made the big plays in crunch time, CSKA Moscow didn’t and Brose Baskets Bamberg got one more big home win! The German champs prevailed 91-83 over the Russians and are alive and kicking in the playoffs race.
Don’t let the final points difference fool you. It was a close game from wire to wire and it was decided in the last minute. Brose Baskets entered the last 74 seconds with a 84-83 lead, but the guests couldn’t score again. Melli made two crucial free throws, Nando De Colo who already had 21 points missed his shot, Bradley Wanamaker made also two free throws (88-83) and with 18 seconds left Vitaly Fridzon missed a three. The last chance of survival for CSKA was one more attempted three by Cory Higgins, but he also couldn’t make it.
The Italian forward of the winners with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists was the best player of the hosts, Nikos Zisis added 14 points and 6 assists, Leon Radosevic also had 14 points and Bradley Wanamaker scored 11.
The two teams were walking side by side from the first until the last minute, Nando De Colo had 21 points and 7 assists, Milos Teodosic added 19 points and Andrey Vorontsevich had 17 points. After this result CSKA Moscow has a 8-4 and a tie with Laboral Kutxa on the top of the group of death, while Brose Baskets is at 6-6, tied with Barcelona for the moment.
