One of the very greats of European basketball will be celebrated on Friday. Before the game against Cedevita, Dimitris Diamantidis of Panathinaikos will be officially named a Euroleague Basketball legend.
The fans of Panathinaikos will, undoubtedly, fill OAKA arena to watch their team’s captain receiving this new honor. Dimitris Diamantidis, a synonym for success in individual and club level, has won the Euroleague title with the Greens thrice in his career, in 2007, 2009, 2011. He was voted as Final Four MVP in 2007 and 2011.
“3D” has also been a member of the All Euroleague First Team in 2007, 2011, 2012 and 2013 and has won the “Best Defender of the Year” award six times in his career, from 2005 to 2009 and in 2011. More than any other player in the history of the competition.
