The spring of Papanikolaou in Moscow

By Lefteris Moutis/ moutis@eurohoops.net

Kostas Papanikolaou has started to find his good old self. Olympiacos certainly need him in the game against Khimki and his selection in fantasy is extremely advantageous.

The international forward returned to Olympicos at the end of January after a season of almost idleness and it took a little time for him to come back and get close to his competitive standards when he left the Piraeus team in the summer of 2013 or the following year in Barcelona. Papanikolaou has found some room and time because of the absence of Matt Lojeski and now he’s in form.

In the last four games of the Greek championship he has a ranking of 18,5 and in the Euroleague 9,6 in the three last games, with a constantly upward trend. Olympiacos need the win on Khimki’s home court and Papanikolaou is essential. His selection in fantasy doesn’t cost a lot (28,8 credits) and he can make the difference, since he doesn’t belong to the “popular” players yet.

Last week was pretty good for the Eurohoops.net team with 182,4 points and the big problem for this week is that almost all the players look in form and ready to have a good game.

Last week’s choice with the replacement of Printezis with Udoh due to Vesely’s injury turned out to be incorrect and we are going to rectify that at once. Fenerbahce don’t have any special motivation, Efes on the other side do, and Udoh isn’t going to press himself especially hard when he knows that he will have to play alone in all the upcoming crucial games. The second big man to depart is Jack Cooley, who contributed 10 credits to the team and precious points out of… nowhere, but at Lokomotiv Kuban’s home he doesn’t seem like he will have the opportunity to score a lot.

The final player to depart from the team is going to be Elliot Williams. We trusted the American guard from the start of his term in Panathinaikos, but the game against Cedevita at the Olympic Sports Center in Athens is expected to be quite easy for the greens and perhaps Williams isn’t going to play as much as he usually does because of a bigger rotation.

Aside from the two Olympiacos players, Papanikolaou and Printezis, the third addition is going to be Khimki’s James Augustine. The American center is extremely consistent with a ranking of 18,2 in the Top 16 and never with less than 12 evaluation points. Olympiacos’s frontline doesn’t have any depth and he can make the difference.

Enjoy fantasy!
