CSKA Moscow renewed Ivan Lazarev for 1+2 years after his satisfying season with the team. The 25–year–old Russian joined CSKA right before the previous season begun and has been proven of great help.
As coach Dimitris Itoudis states in the announcement: “Ivan is definitely improving, he is doing good job, he is one of the best on our team in playing above the rim. He is focused on what does it mean to play for CSKA and we are happy with his effort. We are watching into future and we believe that Ivan has big room to progress. ”
The player himself had a few words to add about his renewed contract: “I am glad to be part of the team, to play alongside such persons, pros of the highest level. Probably, as any basketball player, I would like to perform more important role but I perfectly understand that with CSKA I can improve my skills even during practices. I am definitely not on the top of my potential, I know what I can work on, and I have the ones who work with me. I’d like to say ‘thank you’ to the management and coaching staff for trust in me. We had just crazy last season, we won all trophies, you cannot ask for more. We will try hard to repeat our success next year.”
