Stephane Lasme received a one-year suspension from the Turkish Basketball Federation due to his failure to pass two doping control tests during the Turkish 2016 playoffs. The Gabonese player was found positive in the banned substance Carboxy-THC.
After this decision his tenure with Galatasaray ended, but if his ban was shorter, then things would have been different.
Here is what Galatasaray’s General Manager, Omer Yalcinkaya stated on the matter: “Lasme contributed a lot last season. He will stay out of action for a year. The federation followed the case alongside with FIBA and WADA. If he had got 3 or 6 months of ban, our coach Ergin Ataman would have looked for a solution to add him to our roster again.“
