During the press conference ahead of the Euroleague game between Olympiacos and Anadolu Efes, Giannis Sfairopoulos, the Reds’ coach, was asked to comment on the recent resignation of Argirid Pedoulakis from Panathinaikos.

“It’s not nice to see other coaches leaving their teams. But, this is the coaches’ fate,” he said. “They have a saying in USA that ‘when you signed your contract then the countdown for your sacking begins’. That says everything.”

Olympiacos‘ arch-rival club is still searching for a new head coach, with its options getting fewer after Xavi Pascual, one of the candidates, ended negotiations with them.

Regarding the match vs the Turkish team, coach Sfairopoulos said: “It’s our first game in our home court for this Euroleague season and it’s against a team that has shown good elements of offensive basketball and includes players which can… ‘kill’ you. That’s why we have to be decisive and focused.”
