Georgios Bartzokas discussed Barcelona’s ugly win against Real on Friday and felt the need to thank the fans for their support in his interview with Mundo Deportivo.
“I spent one of the worst nights of my life in my sports career on Friday”, he admitted. “And I think it was the same for everyone who is part of this team. It was a very strange game. We were exhausted and they started scoring eight of their first nine triples. It was not normal, but, from there, we somehow gave up.”
“I have told the players’ no matter what you do, if we win or if we lose, but we have to fight. This is the mentality of the club and that is what we have to do.“
Barcelona faced Estudiantes earlier in the day and the coach noted how important the fans’ support is for the team: “I feel like I’m in heaven”, said the coach. “I am deeply grateful to the fans. This game was played on a Sunday morning and against a smaller team, but we had almost 5,000 people by our side in Palau Blaugrana”. He concluded by giving his own promise: “We are going to do everything possible this season, and I do not say this for public relations so as to give satisfaction!“
