Crvena Zvezda president Nebojsa Covic commented that he’s very pleased with how quick the game between his team and Panathinaikos became sold out, adding that Red Star fans would also fill… Maracana.
“This is an important moment, a great satisfaction but also the best indicator that we’re doing the right things,” he said as reported by Serbian website Zurnal.rs. Sports exist for the fans. Such interest shows that the fans are satisfied with our work. If we had the capacity of Maracana (Red Star’s football arena) we’d have a sold out too. Maybe not in 15 minutes, but within an hour. And that pleases me greatly. I’m really sorry that we can’t play in Kombank Arena. In addition, ticket revenues are a very important aspect of our budget.”
Crvena Zvezda plays Panathinaikos tonight (26/1) for the 20th round of the EuroLeague regular season.
